AAFA: Aritzia Discusses Their Success Factors

Aritzia is one of Canada’s fastest-growing women’s brands and makers of the popular Super Puff puffer jacket. Founded in 1984 by Brian Hill after beginning in the Hill family’s 70-year-old department store, the design house and fashion boutique offers beautiful clothes in aspirational spaces with exceptional service. They have 101 boutiques across the US and Canada and 4,000 team members, and remarkably, did not lay anyone off due to COVID-19. 

A May 2021 Forbes article suggested actions that Aritzia took upon closure of their boutiques: drove e-commerce revenue, adjusted their product, marketing and operational approaches appropriately. Their Q3 2020 e-commerce revenue was up 78.5% over Q3 the previous year.
